The Chuncheon National University of Education (CNUE) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gangwon Information & Multimedia Cooperation to promote the content industry, including cultural content, Extended Reality, VFX, and multimedia. Through this MoU, the two institutions will actively cooperate on △ the exchange of resources of both institutions (such as facilities, equipment, human resources, and information), △ discovery and support of joint content-related projects, △ educational cooperation to foster personnel in the content industry, and cooperation for promoting content-related projects and sharing information.

The Chuncheon National University of Education (CNUE) has been selected for the “2024 Go-to-School Consulting Project,” a project hosted by the Ministry of Education and Korea Foundation for Science and Creativity. CNUE (person-in-charge Professor Tecnam Yoon, Department of English Education), along with Mokwon University as the main organizer, formed a consortium with Chungbuk National University, LG U+, and L.Line to participate in this project and secured 5 billion won for the project. The Go-to-School Consulting Project aims to provide AI-based personalized education for elementary, middle, and high school students across Korea and foster their capabilities in creativity and convergence, critical thinking, and morality. The operating organization is responsible for developing and providing training programs for running digital-based classes for schools and creating a culture of innovation regarding assessments. This project is expected to present a new standard for digital education, both for teachers and students, and contribute significantly to improving the quality of classes through AI technology and realizing personalized education.

The Office of Planning hosted the “2024 1st University Development Strategy Forum” on Wednesday, August 21, at the SBS Cultural Foundation Hall in the library. This forum, held to devise strategies for the university’s development, was attended by 22 participants, including the President, office heads, and team managers. Through this forum, Chuncheon National University of Education (CNUE) had an opportunity to ▲ share the draft of the Five-Year CNUE Development Plan (2024-2028), ▲ collect opinions by proposing ideas for each project in the development plan, and ▲ strengthen the interdepartmental cooperative system by discussing educational innovation plans at CNUE. President Lee Juhan remarked, “I would like to ask for the cooperation and interest of all university members so that the Chuncheon National University of Education can develop and innovate further through this forum.”

The Korea Association of Primary English Education successfully hosted the “2024 KAPEE Summer Annual Meeting” on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Hongik Hall, Chuncheon National University of Education (CNUE). This annual meeting was sponsored by various organizations, including CNUE, the National Research Foundation of Korea, the British Council in Korea, YBM, Chunjae Education Inc., i-Scream Media Corporation, Dong-A Publishing, Mirae-N Co., Visang Education, and iPortfolio Inc. The annual meeting commenced with opening remarks by Lee Ju-han, President of CNUE, Shin Gyeong-ho, Superintendent of the Gangwon State Office of Education, and Bae Sung-je, President of the Gangwon-do Federation of Teachers Association, followed by presentations and discussions on the theme, “The Future of Primary English Education in the era of Artificial Intelligence: Towards Tradition, Innovation, and Convergence.” Based on the discussions, participants worked to identify new directions for primary English education in the age of convergence by actively embracing innovative technology while maintaining the strengths of traditional teaching methods. The renowned Professor Min Deok Gi at Cheongju National University of Education, as well as scholars from foreign universities, including Professor Hyung-jo Yoon at California State University, Northridge, and Professor Jasmin Cowin at Touro University, were invited as special lecturers. 63 presentations were given during the annual meeting, including three keynote lectures, 40 in-person oral presentations, and 20 online recorded presentations, all of which provided ample opportunities for participants to gain knowledge and experience on the theme.

The Chuncheon National University of Education (CNUE) hosted the 2024 Customized Training Workshop on Strengthening Teaching Competency (Innovative Teaching Methods Workshop) as part of the National University Development Project from June 13 to 14 at Hotel Topsten Gangneung. Attended by 37 full-time faculty members of CNUE, the Innovative Teaching Methods Workshop was held to enhance teaching methods and improve the quality of teaching, with the theme of generative AI. Three special lectures were given at the workshop, including EdTech Practice for University Teaching and Learning in the Era of Generative AI (Kim Tae-hoon, Research Fellow at Jeonbuk Educational Policy Research Institute), △ Spatial Computing using Apple Vision Pro (Han Jeong-hoon, Director at Direct Media Lab), and Teaching Methods Using ChatGPT in the Era of Generative AI (Lee Jin-ho, CEO of Davini Joy). President Lee Ju-han said, “I hope this workshop will be an opportunity for us to experience the features and limitations of generative AI, including ChatGPT, in the advent of generative AI and explore how it can be used in lectures.”

On Wednesday, May 22, the Children and Family Welfare Treatment Research Center at Chuncheon National University of Education (CNUE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the East Gangwon Sunflower Center for research and service to respect the human rights of local children, teenagers, and families and restore families. Through this MoU, the two institutions agreed to ▲ exchange information for supporting the crisis, healing, and welfare of children, teenagers, and families, ▲ collaborate on teaching, research, and projects to restore the human rights of children, teenagers, and families, ▲ develop programs, and provide support and human resources for supporting abused children, teenagers, and families ▲ and implement various programs, including teacher training for preventing gender-based violence. The two institutions had previously signed an MoU in 2009, which lost its effectiveness due to the closure of the Center for Gender Equality Education and Research. The two institutions have renewed the agreement with the opening of the new Children and Family Welfare Treatment Research Center in 2022. The signing ceremony was attended by the directors of the two institutions, as well as Park Gi-beom, Director of the Center for Primary Education Research; Yoo Ho-geum, Vice Director of the East Sunflower Center; Cha Mi-ran, Professor at the Department of Ethics Education; and Go In Gyu, Professor at the Department of Practical Arts Education.
