The Children and Family Welfare Healing Research Center (Director Professor Yoon Ji Hyun) successfully hosted the 2024 Special Lecture Series on Violence Prevention on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 4:10 p.m., at the SBS Cultural Foundation Hall. At the academic event, Jo Youngeun, who heads the “Our Neighborhood Law Firm,” gave a lecture titled “Everyday Law to Protect Myself,” which focused on online sexual harassment, stalking, online financial fraud, part-time job contracts, and real estate leases. The lecture and Q&A session, which lasted about two hours, was attended by many people, including CNUE students, who are future elementary school teachers, professors, and local residents. This event was hosted by the CNUE “Children and Family Welfare Healing Research Center” and held in collaboration with the Women’s and Family Rights Counseling Center “Hansalm,” which was sponsored by Chuncheon City. The event was also sponsored by the CNUE Elementary Education Research Center and the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies in Welfare and Healing at the CNUE Graduate School. The Children and Family Welfare Healing Research Center was newly established in March 2022 to conduct research, volunteer, and collaborate on projects with relevant institutions in the local community on issues experienced by marginalized people who have been neglected in the field of education and children, teenagers, families, and teachers who face difficulties in life. Starting this year, the center also opened a new program on Interdisciplinary Studies in Welfare and Healing in the Graduate School. The center announced that it would continue to provide lectures on violence prevention in the future.

The 40th Student Council, Deungdae (President Lim Min-kyung), will host the 2024 Children’s Day event, “Gangwon Kids Festival,” on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 10:40 a.m. on the campus. This festival, held under the theme of “Spring dreams become clear winds,” features 20 interactive booths run by departments, student groups, and organizations. Other programs include events hosted by the Student Council, including “Today, I’m the King of Scavenger Hunt!”, “You Kids on the Block,” “Children’s Day is My Day!” Lim Min-kyung, the President of the Student Council, commented, “I hope that many children and members of the local society can enjoy a wonderful time through this event commemorating the 102nd Children’s Day.”

The 39th Department of Art Education Degree Show, hosted by the Department of Art Education, will take place for eleven days, from Tuesday, April 16, to Friday, April 26, at the General Exhibition Hall on the second floor of the CNUE Student Support Center. Twenty-seven fourth-year students from the Department of Art Education will participate in this exhibition, showcasing an array of aesthetic works from five different disciplines: painting, design, photography, ceramics, and Korean painting. The opening event will be held on Tuesday, April 16, at 5 p.m. in the General Exhibition Hall.

CNUE celebrated its 85th anniversary (March 26) by holding an event at Ilji Hall, Hongik Building, on Wednesday, March 27. At this event, eight faculty members who worked for over 20 years and 10 years were presented with plaques of merit, and 13 students received scholarship certificates (for the CNUE Development Fund Scholarship, Alumni Association Scholarship, and Seokwoo Alumni Scholarship). In his commemorative address, President Lee Juhan remarked, "Our university is experiencing extreme difficulties in management. I call on all members of the university to respond with the wisdom and courage of 'stepping off the cliff' and work to continue fostering outstanding elementary school teachers." He also congratulated the recipients of the plaques of merit and scholarship certificates. Min Yeong-hong, the President of the Alumni Association, added, "I thank the president and faculty members, who are expertly navigating the difficulties that our university is experiencing. I, with my fellow 25,000 alumni, will support the university's endeavor to advance elementary school education."

The CNUE 2024 "Student Clubs Festival" and "Haeoreum Festival" were held for two days from March 6 to 7. The Student Club Festival was hosted by the 37th Student Club Association Kokkiri to encourage collaboration among student clubs and promote them by allowing students to meet the student clubs and learn more about each club. Co-organized by the Pungmul student club Gutsarang and the 40th Student Council, Deungdae, the Haeoreum Festival is an event that marks the beginning of the student council's term and is celebrated by 1,300 CNUE students. It is also an event that celebrates the "beginning (oreum) of a new year (hae)," wishing a successful year for the Central Executive Committee, Central Steering Committee, autonomous organizations, the club association, and all students. Students hoped for the best for the university and vowed to become good teachers by participating in programs, such as "Gilnori," where all twelve departments walked in a single line around the campus to feel united and bond with students from other departments "Good Teacher Vows," where they vowed to become good teachers in the future, and the "Campfire."
